AACF Legacy Stories
For inspiration for your own fund, look to some of our AACF donors’ Legacy Stories. Here are a few samples.
Fred & Terri Bursch
Fred & Terri Bursch Charitable Fund
Fred and Terri Bursch have roots in Alexandria dating back to 1913. Fred’s father, Pete bought the business which eventually became Bursch Travel. Fred took over the company in 1977, and it has grown from two locations to 15 offices in four states!
The Bursch family has given generously to many causes in the Alexandria area, and found it much easier to do when they partnered with Alexandria Area Community Foundation in 2011 by establishing a donor advised fund.
Rick & Sandy Paulsen
Rick & Sandy Paulsen Family Fund
For Rick and Sandy Paulsen, giving back starts close to home. The couple’s charitable giving has grown out of the connections they have made professionally and personally since moving from southern Minnesota to Alexandria in 1981.
Some of their favorite local charities have included United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties, Habitat for Humanity, Calvary Lutheran Church and more. They recently created a donor advised fund with the Alexandria Area Community Foundation to make the most of the advantages of giving appreciated securities.
