Bill Flaig

Born and raised in Alexandria, Bill Flaig served our community with a warm and caring heart. In 1973, he began working at Douglas County Hospital as the Assistant Hospital Administrator. A few years later, he became the Hospital Administrator and CEO, serving in that role until his retirement in 2011. Family and community service were very important to Bill. In retirement, he remained active in the community through Habitat for Humanity, the Alexandria Area Community Foundation and volunteering at the local food shelf. Posthumously, Bill was awarded the Ruth McDonald Award in Philanthropy from the AACF in 2022.
