Alexandria, Minn. – The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) would like to cordially invite the community to join their annual celebration of philanthropy on Monday, May 7.  The celebration will take place at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center from 5:00-7:30pm.  The highlight of the event this year will be the presentation of the “Ruth McDonald Award in Philanthropy” to Frank Starke and John Wosepka.

Frank Starke served as the president of the Alexandria Technical and Community College for 10 years. John Wosepka served as the president of Bremer Bank-Alexandria for 17 years.  Both men have been influential in a number of projects across the Alexandria community.

Kathy Pfeffer, Executive Director of the AACF, stated “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award than these two men. The work they have helped to accomplish in our community is exemplary.”

The “Ruth McDonald Award in Philanthropy” is named after a woman who made a significant gift to the community foundation through her estate.  It recognizes the volunteer efforts of individuals who have significantly contributed to the field of philanthropy in the area.

Reservations to attend the event are $50 and can be made at www.communitygiving.org/events or by calling (877) 253-4380.
