Estate Planning and Tax Strategies Workshop - RESCHEDULE

Attend this FREE Workshop to learn about the following:

  • Estate planning essentials shared in a down to earth and easy to understand way
  • Tax savings opportunities from the latest legislation and year-end strategies
  • Leaving a legacy and charitable giving options with tax saving strategies and community impact

  • Join us at the new MN Traders Co for this informative workshop. There will be approximately 90 minutes of material presented from 3:00-4:30 p.m., followed by a question and answer session, to conclude by 5:00 p.m. Presenters include Rene A. Millner and Laura J. Hansen, Attorneys at Breen & Person, Chris Clasen from Clasen & Schiessl CPAs, and Karl Samp, Executive Director at Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation.

    Brainerd Lakes Area Lunch and Learns for Nonprofits

    Join us for lunch and have an opportunity to meet the new executive director of the MN Council of Nonprofits. Attendees will hear what MCN has planned for the next year and can network with other Lakes Area organizations and partnering professionals.

    Meet and Greet with Nonoko Sato, the Executive Director at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits. In partnership with MCN’s board, staff, and key stakeholders, Nonoko charts MCN’s strategic response to organizational and sector challenges. She is a relentless champion for racial equity and justice, and excited for MCN to model new approaches across the organization’s values, operations, programs, policy agendas, and partnerships. Nonoko values making authentic and deep relationships with people and is excited to mobilize the nonprofit sector to take on its next set of political and economic challenges and help nonprofits accomplish their missions to create a healthy, cooperative, and just society.

    Prior to joining MCN, Nonoko served for nine years as executive director of SMART, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that champions education equity by supporting students in overcoming systemic barriers on their journey to a college degree. She currently serves on the boards of Coalition of Asian American Leaders, Theater Mu, and BenefitsMN.

    Originally from Tokyo and Chicago, Nonoko graduated from Carleton College. She lives in Minneapolis with her partner and is a proud parent of two students in Minneapolis Public Schools.

    CommunityConnections Webinar Series - Welcoming Communities

    What does it mean to be a "welcoming" community? What work can communities do to help earn this reputation? Why is it important in this current economic and political climate?

    Please join us for our next CommunityConnections webinar series on Thursday, December 16 from 11am - 1pm with speaker Bill Blazar, former senior vice president of public affairs and business development at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. Bill's presentation will focus on the urgency for central Minnesota communities to be “welcoming”; what that means for change and growth; and strategies for welcoming. He will discuss opportunities to develop and grow our regional economy and their direct link to welcoming.
