Wendy Roy hired by BLACF

Brainerd, Minn. – The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation (BLACF) announces that Wendy Roy, former Executive Director of the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation, has been hired as a strategic philanthropic consultant to work with BLACF upon the resignation of Bill Brekken as Director of the local Foundation.   Bill has taken a full-time position with a business in the Brainerd area.

During Bill’s two years as Director of BLACF, the Foundation grew by over $2 million.  Wendy Roy comes to the Foundation with over 15 years of community foundation experience having grown the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation from $250,000 to over $17 million.
 
BLACF, in affiliation with CommunityGiving, is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community. Since 1998, BLACF has grown to over $7.9 million in assets and awarded over $3.5 million in grants to local nonprofits. CommunityGiving is a partnership of four community foundations, including Alexandria Area Community Foundation, Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation, Central Minnesota Community Foundation, and Willmar Area Community Foundation.
