Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) announced today the opening of their annual Community Impact Grant Round. The WACF seeks to fund programs that focus on three different areas: addressing the opportunity gap for youth, increasing community connections and welcoming diverse populations, and supporting productive aging. Eligible organizations must be a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, school, or government entity who serve residents of Kandiyohi County. The WACF Community Impact Grant Round will be open for applications from November 15th, 2022 to January 15th, 2023. “Local non-profits are the social safety net for our community. They ensure our most vulnerable neighbors are supported, enhance our quality of life and weave people together to strengthen our social fabric. Your community foundation is pleased to support their work and encourage their innovative ideas via our Community Impact grants. It is an important way that WACF aids in community vitality and fostering deeper connections in this place we all call home,” notes Sara Carlson, WACF Executive Director

Last year, the WACF invested over $188,000 back into our community through the Community Impact Grant Round. This included investments to launch the Elevate 360 Employment program through the Bethesda Foundation, supporting the Summer Fun Run series through Miles4Mentors, assisting MNyou Mobile Mini-Market to educate and provide fresh produce to communities experiencing food insecurity and supporting the community mural project at Woodland Centers.

The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local Willmar area.  Since 1998, WACF has grown to over $23.5 million in assets and awarded $12.4 million in grants to nonprofits.  The WACF is governed by a local board of directors and is a partner of CommunityGiving, which is a collaborative of community foundations united under a single framework to create efficiencies that maximize the impact of our donors.  Collectively, CommunityGiving administers over 1,000 funds totaling nearly $195 million.
