Virginia Community Foundation Announces Sale, Northern State Bank of Virginia Provides Accommodations

The Virginia Community Foundation announces that it has sold its office space at 303 Chestnut Street in Virginia, MN to the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa.  This sale will help facilitate an effort by the Bois Forte Band to provide tribal services to local Band members in the Quad Cities area who might otherwise have a difficult time accessing the services that are available to them.

VCF Board Chair Greg Gilness and Executive Director Maija Biondich both state that the sale of the building will be beneficial to the Quad Cities area, to Chestnut Street, and to Bois Forte Band members.

Bois Forte Health and Human Services Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dan Rabideaux states that the Bois Forte Council has been looking for a way to make it easier for Band members in this immediate area to have access to Band services available to them.  According to Rabideaux, many members do not have access to transportation to get to Tribal Offices at Lake Vermilion, and establishing this site in Virginia will help alleviate that situation.

To enable this sale, the Northern State Bank of Virginia has offered office space in their loan offices facility at 521 Chestnut Street in Virginia. The Virginia Community Foundation is extremely appreciative of that offer and is now conducting its business at that address.

Northern State Bank of Virginia has a long history of support and benevolence to the Virginia Community Foundation.  As a community bank, Northern State Bank values community and recognizes the value the Foundation brings to the community and offered to donate space in its facility located at 521 Chestnut Street.  The space includes offices, access to a conference room, break room, and storage area.

Greg Gilness states, “Thanks to the generosity of Northern State Bank of Virginia, the Virginia Community Foundation is now set up to fully function in a new, modern space.”
