Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) announced today the election of Pat Solheid and Arfon Mohamud to serve on the board of directors.
Solheid recently retired after 14 years as the Vice President of Human Resources for Jennie-O Turkey Stores. Her and her husband Jim live in rural Spicer, and have two grown daughters. Pat is currently the chair of the administrative team for Cross Roads Community Church in Spicer, the newsletter editor for the Nest Lake Improvement Association and a member of the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. She is also a past YMCA board member, a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Board for the State of Minnesota, a Vision 2040 and WeLEAD member while serving as the treasurer for the Midwest Poultry Consortium.
Arfon Mohamud is the Community Nurse Liaison for Kandiyohi County Public Health. She and her husband, Abdullah Olow, and their three children reside in Willmar. Mohamud has been a part of the Willmar Destination Playground Steering Committee, Healthy Together Willmar BCBS Community Table, the Iftiin Somali Youth Organization, League of Women Voters, Vision 2040, Community Rhythms, ISAIAH and the Bounce Back Project. In addition, current board members Ron Holmgren was elected to serve a second three-year term while, Jon Dahl and Heather Thompson were elected to serve a third three-year term.
The board of directors governs the Willmar Area Community Foundation, conducts development activities, approves grant decisions and works to engage people, connect resources and build community.
The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local Willmar area.
