| Carver County, Minn. – It has been shown that living in community is important to most of us. The question then is “How can I help support my community and make it better and stronger”? It’s a question I asked myself, as I understood the value and importance of building and living in community. As we’ve previously discussed this is most certainly true as we presently face this world wide pandemic. One of the tools that can provide some support among a number of actions is the Community Foundation for Carver County (CFCC). The CFCC was organized in 2004 with a vision to help make Carver County a great place to live, learn, work and play. Governed by a local board of directors, the CFCC is uniquely positioned to understand the community needs of Carver County cities. Today the CFCC has over $1 million in assets, and is dedicated to serving as a catalyst for community investments that contribute to the health and vitality of those living and working in Carver County. Carver County is also the wealthiest county in Minnesota, so there is a lot of potential and possibility to build community across our county. For those that are philanthropic or for those that have resources they want to use and make a difference for their community, the CFCC can help make that difference a reality. It can be the vehicle that will take care of the administrative and cost burden of establishing a separate foundation. It will care for and work with you to decide on the best use of the dollars you’ve contributed. It will be a partnership that will trust that those dollars will make a difference for your home community or address a special area of interest important to you. Oversight and experienced management will be provided that can bring comfort and confidence to the donor. It can and will help you make a difference for what is important to you. Today the CFCC offers a wide variety of services to donors, professional advisors and nonprofits in the Carver County area. The CFCC serves the entire county, all of its communities, and works to carry out its mission to Engage People, Connect Resources and Build Community. CARVER COUNTY RESPONSE FUND At this time of National Emergency where many things have been shut down including a lot of nonprofit work that is aimed at supporting our most vulnerable, the CFCC is a vehicle that has helped nonprofits address the growing needs. It provides an opportunity to contribute dollars and have it go to support service gaps created by this pandemic we’re living through. Recently grants have been made to a number of nonprofit organizations to help support their needs and ensure they are able to deliver needed services. Over $22,000 dollars are now going to work and helping make a difference during this challenging time. It’s an action that supports the words of being caring community members. You can contribute to this Community Response Fund at communitygiving.org/donate. We’re looking forward to another round of grant making. COMMUNITYGIVING The CFCC has partnered with CommunityGiving to empower and support its growth. CommunityGiving is a 50 year old Foundation head quartered in St Cloud, MN. The CommunityGiving team collectively has over 150 years of experience in this foundation work and is managing community foundations across the state of Minnesota. It’s managing over $160 million of assets across these community foundations. More information will be shared with all of you about the CFCC with the hope it will build broad community awareness and understanding. Today, the CFCC provides an opportunity to join together and make a difference for our home communities. Please join us and together we can demonstrate what we can accomplish across Carver County. To learn more about the CFCC visit communitygiving.org/cfcc . . CHASKA COMMUNITY FUND Today Hamburg, Cologne and Norwood Young America have community funds in place that citizens, businesses and service organizations have supported. These funds help address the needs of their community. There’s no reason we couldn’t have every Carver County community establish a fund that people can support and contribute to, that would address needs in their community. We are going to look at that possibility in Chaska, and will be providing more information about that possibility in the future. It will be another way to build community through broad based community support that connects resources to needs. |
