| $20K Distributed in Partnership with Initiative Foundation St. Cloud, Minn. – Six nonprofits in Central Minnesota were awarded rural poverty grants. These grants were provided through the Rural Poverty Fund, managed by the Central Minnesota Community Foundation in partnership with the Initiative Foundation. In total, $20,000 was distributed among Bridges of Hope ($5K), Oasis Central Minnesota ($5K), Anna Marie’s Alliance ($3.5K), Brainerd Family YMCA ($3.5K), New Pathway, Inc. ($1.5K) and Onamia Area Early Childhood Coalition ($1.5K). The Rural Poverty Fund was established to support the planning and implementation of projects or programs that address rural poverty. Bridges of Hope in Crow Wing County will be using their grant for referral and resource connection programs for rural individuals and families in crisis. Oasis Central Minnesota in Morrison County will be putting their grant funding toward an emergency shelter project. Right here in St. Cloud, Anna Marie’s Alliance will use their funds for an on-scene program for rural areas. Meanwhile, the Brainerd Family YMCA will be putting their grant toward supporting their 2020 YMCA Emergency Food Services program. In Isanti, New Pathway, Inc. has allocated their funds to be used for their Path to Home program. Lastly, Onamia Area Early Childhood Coalition’s grant will go toward their Healthy Families Project: Books and Diapers for Families in Need. The Rural Poverty Fund grants are awarded on even years, the next opportunity to apply for one will be in 2022.
