Investment Totaling $15,100
New London & Spicer, MN – The New London-Spicer Area Fund (NLSAF) announces investments totaling $15,100 in their recent grant round. NLSAF awarded grants to five local programs in the Northern Kandiyohi County area that support their focus areas of arts, healthy communities and lifestyles, environment, large-scale and sustainable initiatives, and special collaborations. “Our committee continues to be honored to support projects and programs that not only strengthen our community, but create opportunity for everyone” says NLSAF board chair, Clark Vollan.
The amounts awarded and program descriptions are as follows:
- $5,000 to Willmar Lakes Area Let’s Go Fishing to help reacquire the LGF pontoons & maintain programming in the NL-S area;
- $4,000 to support the Crow River Players, Inc. series showcasing identity to promote inclusivity & connecting diverse populations within the NL-S area;
- $3,000 to provide nourishing meals and support independent lifestyles of high risk NL-S seniors through Lutheran Social Service of MN;
- $1,600 to Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center for adaptable and inclusive paddling equipment for the Yellow Boats Project;
- $1,500 to BIO Girls, Inc. for self-esteem programming that combines life skills, mentoring and physical activity for adolescent NL-S girls.
The New London-Spicer Area Fund is a citizen-advised and professionally managed ongoing resource that enables individuals to support advancements in the community serving the 12 northern townships of Kandiyohi County: Arctander, Burbank, Colfax, Dovre, Green Lake, Harrison, Irving, Lake Andrew, Mamre, New London, Norway Lake and Roseville.
