Funds Benefit Six Community Organizations

New London & Spicer, MN – The New London-Spicer Area Fund (NLSAF) announced the recipients of their recent grant round. NLSAF awarded $16,000 in grant funding to six local programs. NLSAF chose to award grants to projects that fit within the categories of arts, healthy communities and lifestyles, environment and large-scale and sustainable initiatives. “As an organization, we are excited to be supporting these programs that continue to help our community thrive” says NLSAF board chair, Clark Vollan.  

The amounts awarded and program descriptions are as followed:

  • $5,000 to improve the city ballpark by adding an inning by inning scoreboard at Willie Reigstad Park in the city of Sunburg.
  • $4,000 to support New London-Spicer Area Schools in purchasing new choral robes to be used by student participating in choir.
  • $2,500 to the Wildcat Backpack Program which provides weekend food to children facing hunger.
  • $2,500 to assist in the purchase of an LCD projector for community enrichment through the Crow River Players.
  • $1,000 to assist in the expansion of Let’s Go Fishing program for elementary school age children.
  • $1,000 to support community events the Yellow Boats on the Pond project are planning to highlight the Mill Pond and paddling opportunities on the Middle Fork Crow River.

The New London-Spicer Area Fund is a citizen-driven and professionally managed ongoing resource that enables individuals to support advancements in the community and serves the 12 northern townships of Kandiyohi County: Arctander, Burbank, Colfax, Dovre, Green Lake, Harrison, Irving, Lake Andrew, Mamre, New London, Norway Lake and Roseville.

The New London-Spicer Area Fund is a fund of the Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) and powered by CommunityGiving which is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community.
