Mark & Carmon Watkins and Vicki Bump Recognized with 2023 Ruth McDonald Award in Philanthropy

Alexandria, Minn. – The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) is pleased to announce that the recipients of this year’s Ruth McDonald Award in Philanthropy were Mark & Carmon Watkins of Geneva Capital, LCC and Vicki Bump of the Outreach Food Shelf. These individuals were honored at the AACF Annual Celebration of Philanthropy Social that took place on Monday, September 25 at Carlos Creek Winery. With over 250 people in attendance, the Alexandria Area Community Foundation shared an update on the current happenings of the foundation and presented the awards. 
The Ruth McDonald Award in Philanthropy is given annually to community members who have shown extraordinary support of the community through giving of their time and their resources. Previous recipients include Bill Flaig* and Dennis & Elliot* Christensen (2022), Jeanne Batsole and Vern & Judy Anderson (2021), Fred Bursch* and Kathryn LeBrasseur* (2019) and Frank Starke and John Wosepka* (2018). * after their name indicates they are deceased.

The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local Alexandria area. Since 1992, AACF has grown to over $6.3 million in assets and awarded over $9.1 million in grants to nonprofits. The AACF is governed by a local board of directors and is a partner of CommunityGiving, which is a collaborative of many community foundations united under a single framework to create efficiencies that maximize the impact of our donors.
