Local Arts Programming Receives Support

Five organizations are awarded funding

Willmar, Minn. – Local arts programming is being given a financial boost after the recent Willmar Area Community Foundation Arts Fund grant round.  Five programs will be receiving funding with over $5,000 being awarded. The programs range from orchestra music to art exploration for kids. Sara Carlson, executive director of the Willmar Area Community Foundation stated, “Encouraging creative and artistic outlets for all ages is an important aspect of making our community the best it can be.  There are many great opportunities to explore the arts in our community and we are excited to support them.”

The amounts awarded and program descriptions are as followed:

-$3,000 gifted for hands on learning opportunities of art exploration and education for youth at the Village Children’s Museum.
-$1,0000 to support Studio Hop, the annual self-guided studio tour in early summer, and Celebrate Art! Celebrate Coffee!, the fine arts festival in the fall, through the Willmar Area Arts Council.
-$500 for Minnesota Music through the Willmar Community Theater to bring Minnesota artists to the community and expose people to the diversity within our state.
-$500 to support the Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra to present five public concerts throughout the year.
-$400 to purchase new music for the Prairie Winds Concert Band.
