Brainerd, Minn. – Fueled by a passion for education and medical science, and an admiration for veterans, Lee and Penny Anderson of Nisswa have been selected as the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation’s 2015 Award in Philanthropy recipients.

Each year, the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation celebrates the generosity of the community and recognizes individuals who have fostered passion and vision for philanthropy in the Lakes Area through its Annual Award in Philanthropy.

Lee Anderson is owner and chairman of APi Group, Inc., the parent company to over 40 fire protection, industrial and specialty construction companies located throughout North America and the United Kingdom. While the Andersons have chosen several local organizations to benefit from their personal involvement, they are extremely active on a national scale. Some of the organizations to which they have provided substantial support in recent years include St Thomas University, Saint Paul; Breck School, Golden Valley; United States Military Academy at West Point, New York; Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts; and the Defender’s Lodge at the Palo Alto Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in California.  The Andersons will be honored at the BLACF Annual Dinner and Award in Philanthropy July 30th at the Gull Lake Center at Grand View Lodge. Guest speaker for the event is Bob Gross, returning superintendent for the Brainerd Public Schools.

Tickets are $50 and are available online at communitygiving.org/brainerd or by calling (877) 253-4380.
