Lakes Area Comes Together to Celebrate Generosity and Lasting Impact at the 2026 Awards in Philanthropy Celebration

BRAINERD, Minn. — The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation (BLACF) recently welcomed community members, nonprofit leaders, donors, and partners to its 2026 Awards in Philanthropy Celebration—an inspiring evening honoring the people whose generosity is strengthening the Lakes Area today and for generations to come. This year’s honorees, Ruthie Gmeinder and the late Glen “Gus” Gustafson, were recognized for their extraordinary commitment to service, leadership, and community impact. Their stories served as powerful reminders that lasting change begins with individuals willing to invest their time, talents, and resources in others.

The evening highlighted the impact of philanthropy across the region, from funding nonprofit initiatives and scholarships to supporting programs that address local needs and create opportunities for future generations. Guests also heard inspiring stories of community leadership, volunteerism, and charitable giving that continue to shape the future of the Lakes Area.
