Alexandria, Minn. –The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) announced today the election of four new members to the AACF Board of Directors. Mary Jane Reif, Nick Heydt, Derek Holt and Linda Akenson have all been elected to serve an initial three year term. (Pictured below)
Mary Jane Reif is the former Executive Director of the non-profit Elder Network where she currently volunteers her time as a peer counselor and also serves on the Parish Council at St. Mary’s Church.
Nick Heydt is a partner at Pemberton Law, P.L.L.P. He focuses his law practice in estate planning, probate law, real estate law and business law. Nick grew up in Alexandria and enjoys practicing law in the lakes area.
Derek Holt is a Vice President of Business Banking at Bremer Bank. He is committed to building, managing and deepening relationships with businesses in order to best serve their banking needs. Holt has over 15 years of banking experience, most recently as a commercial/ag banker in Hallock, MN.
Linda Akenson is the broker/owner of Counselor Realty. She has been in real estate for 40 years and was born and raised in the Alexandria area.
In addition, current board member Bruce Pohlig was elected to serve a third three year term. Pohlig was also recently elected to serve as the chair of the CommunityGiving Board of Directors.
Board officers elected were Josh Tatge to serve as Chair, Sally Smith to serve as Vice Chair, Kelly Jenzen to serve as Secretary, and Jenny Odland to serve as Treasurer.
The board of directors governs the Alexandria Area Community Foundation, conducts development activities, approves grant decisions and works to engage people, connect resources and build community.
The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local Alexandria area. Since 1992, AACF has grown to over $4.8 million in assets and awarded over $3.9 million in grants to nonprofits.
