Philanthropy: the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.

There are many ways to make a gift which will create an impact on your community. As a donor or an advisor working with individuals, there are a number of ways to give through CommunityGiving and our partner foundations:

• create or contribute to a charitable fund;
• create or contribute to a scholarship;
• make a bequest to CommunityGiving or a partner foundation;
• name CommunityGiving or a partner foundation as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy;
• donate to CommunityGiving or a partner foundation via your IRA or other retirement plan asset; and,
• directly donate to a cause close to your heart;

Some of the above gifts are what we refer to as legacy gifts; they provide for the community into the future, rather than just now. Both types of donors are extremely important to the causes, organizations and students who utilize the grant and scholarship programs here. CHARITABLE FUNDS

CommunityGiving manages more than 700 charitable funds established by individuals, families and organizations to support a wide range of charities and causes. While you can donate to funds who support organizations outside of Minnesota, 88.3% of all grants awarded stay in the state. Learn more about the grants which come out of these funds here.
