Those who were fortunate to have known Kathy Krebsbach were likely been touched by her spirit, enthusiasm and commitment to giving of herself for the benefit of others. Whether you knew her by Kath, Kathy, Mom or Mrs. K, the impact and impression continues in an amazingly positive and powerful way.

Kathy was a survivor of breast cancer for 16 years. Her goals from the outset of her battle were to nurture her sons to become good men and to continue her passion of teaching and mentoring young kindergarten children in their initial quest into the real world. She achieved both goals. Although Kathy passed away in the spring of 2010, her memory continues with many as a person who gave of herself every day.

As a teacher at a local private grade school, Mrs. K gave of her time beyond the expected commitment and would personally buy many supplies and crafts for her students. She did not believe the children should be affected by the financial challenges many schools face.

Mrs. K once led a “kindergarten round-up night” for new parents and students from a chair as she unknowingly had a fractured hip. Although in pain, she was not going to miss the opportunity to demonstrate her caring for her children. Her school associates describe her as “the most selfless and resilient person they’ve ever met.”

Kath’s giving of herself is a memory her family wants to leave for all to emulate. Her family and friends have created the Mrs. K’s St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Education Fund at the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. It has created a legacy of how Kathy lived and her passion for giving.
