James Glatzell

Fund Name:: James J. Glatzell Fund
Community Foundation(s): Carver County

James (Jim) Glatzell was born and raised in Chaska. He joined the U.S. Army and served as he traveled the country and the world. He eventually returned to his home community and then completed his education in electronics and went on to work for more than 32 years at Honeywell. During that time, he also served on several boards including the Chaska Historical Society, Scott-Carver Old Threshers Association and the Carver County Veteran’s Council. Jim felt giving to his community was a priority and wanted his commitment to them and the community to continue long after his death.

Jim passed away in 2013 and under the direction of the Community Foundation for Carver County, Jim’s generous spirt and legacy will live on through a donor advised fund, the James J. Glatzell Fund. This endowed fund ensures that the above mentioned organizations and the community would receive gifts to continue their important work. James was a proud veteran of the US ARMY. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #57 in Chaska, Minnesota. Passed veterans were paid respect by Jim at funerals when he played, “Taps” as a tribute to their military affiliation. He is dearly missed by community members but his spirit will live on. Here is to a veteran hero who served his country and community.
