| Challenge Surpasses $3.8 Million Raised Over Past 18 Years |
| St. Cloud, Minn. – The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation are pleased to announce that the Charity Challenge raised a record $621,652 this holiday season to provide much-needed support to food shelves in the St. Cloud area. The total includes a $200,000 match from the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation. The money raised will benefit the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and the St. Joseph Community Food Shelves. With the completion of the Charity Challenge for 2018, the total dollars raised since the Charity Challenge began in 2001 is over $3.8 million donated to local food shelves. “The community support for this challenge continues to amaze and inspire me,” said Norm Skalicky, CEO of Stearns Bank. “I am so pleased to be able to help others in this way and I hope that we have made an impact on those in need in our community.” The Skalicky Foundation initiated the Charity Challenge just before Thanksgiving to match every dollar donated up to $100,000 and then increased the match up to $200,000 in mid-December. This Challenge ran through the end of the year. CMCF Executive Director Caryl Turnow said “The Charity Challenge is the perfect example of our community working together to meet a goal and support those who need help most. We are grateful for Mr. Skalicky’s continued leadership to help our local food shelves and people in need.” The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF), in affiliation with CommunityGiving, is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community.
