Challenge Surpasses $4.3 Million Raised Over Past 19 Years

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation are pleased to announce that the Charity Challenge raised $568,622 this holiday season to provide much-needed support to food shelves in the St. Cloud area.

The total includes a $150,000 match from the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation. The money raised will benefit the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and the St. Joseph Community Food Shelves. With the completion of the Charity Challenge for 2019, the total dollars raised since the Charity Challenge began in 2001 is over $4.3 million donated to local food shelves.

“The community support for this challenge continues to amaze and inspire me,” said Norm Skalicky, Chairman of the Board of Stearns Bank. “I am so pleased to be able to help others in this way and I hope that we have made an impact on those in need in our community.”

The Skalicky Foundation initiated the Charity Challenge just before Thanksgiving to match every dollar donated up to $150,000. This Challenge ran through the end of the year.

CMCF Executive Director Caryl Turnow said “The Charity Challenge provides much needed support to our local food shelves and we are continually grateful for Mr. Skalicky’s leadership. The Charity Challenge is a great example of the positive effect we can have on the community when we come together around a need.”
