| Applications Due August 31 St. Cloud, Minn. – The Bernick Family Foundation is now accepting applications for their annual grant round. The Bernick Family Foundation supports two key focus areas through their grant round; youth and education which includes activities to help prepare students for future success in education and the workplace, and health and fitness which includes activities that encourage active lifestyles and well-being. Grant application deadline is August 31, 2020. Jason Bernick, Bernick’s Director of Corporate Affairs stated, “Supporting these projects and organizations during these difficult times is more important than ever and a true honor for us to help our communities in this way. We are looking forward to seeing what creative and innovative ways the issues in our two focus areas are being addressed this year.” The Bernick Family Foundation will accept applications for grants ranging from $5,000 to $40,000 in its focus areas. Applicants must be 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations, schools or government entities serving communities where Bernick’s operates. This includes Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Waite Park, and Willmar, Minnesota and Dresser, Wisconsin, and the surrounding areas. Last year, 9 projects were selected to receive grants and some of those projects included $10,000 to support a high school mentoring program through the YES Network, $29,500 to support the building of the Sauk Centre Obstacle Challenge Playground and $10,000 to the Ridgewater College Foundation to support the purchase of mobile truck driving simulators, training of staff and continued implementation and training for local students becoming commercial vehicle operators The Bernick Family Foundation established their first fund with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation in 1989. The Bernick’s company and the Bernick family uses their funds to support organizations that reflect the family’s core values, while providing leadership in responding to emerging community needs.
