Alexandria, Minn. – The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) announced today that they will be putting an additional $5,000 into Alexandria Response Fund, now to serve those impacted by COVID-19.  While the Alexandria Response Fund will continue to support those impacted by the downtown fire, the fund will now also be directed to the COVID-19 pandemic in our local community. Gifts via credit card can be directed to the fund at https://www.communitygiving.org/donate/alexandria-response-fund

Holly Witt, Executive Director of the Alexandria Area Community Foundation stated, “The Alexandria Response Fund was set up to serve our community in times of crisis. Unfortunately, our community is facing two crises back to back. The AACF believes in the strength and generosity of our community to overcome these difficult times but we must work together and help our neighbors, friends and families.”

The AACF will work with local agencies to identify the greatest needs of the community and disseminate the funds to local 501c(3) nonprofits, governmental and faith-based organizations.

There is also a statewide COVID-19 relief fund being operated by the Minnesota Council on Foundations and the St. Paul and Minnesota Community Foundation.  For more information on this fund, visit https://mcf.org/minnesota-disaster-recovery-fund-coronavirus
