ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation, the Central Minnesota Community Foundation, and the St. Cloud Metro Area are excited to start the 19th annual Charity Challenge. Many local food shelves are dependent on the Charity Challenge, especially around this time of year when there’s an increase in the demand for food in the community. There’s no better way to start this holiday season than by supporting a family in need by donating to a local food shelf.

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced today the Central Minnesota Special Needs Fund is now accepting grant applications. This is a new grant round for CMCF. The Central Minnesota Special Needs grants will support programming that serves those with complex intellectual and physical disabilities. Application deadline for this grant round is October 28, 2019.

Tim Wensman and Janet Fischels-Wensman will be receiving the Alex Didier Award in Philanthropy; Lori Greenway will be receiving the Professional Award in Philanthropy; GREAT Theatre will be receiving the Community Builder Award; and Bernie Perryman will be receiving the ATHENA Award.

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced two grant rounds are now accepting grant applications to benefit women and young girls in the community. The first grant opportunity is from the Women’s Fund of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. The Women’s Fund provides funding to projects and programs that focus on the following three areas: girls ages 10-18, women in transition and elder women.

St. Cloud, Minn.— The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced the election of Debra Leigh to serve as the new chairperson of the board of directors. Leigh is a professor at St. Cloud State University. She is also co-founder and lead organizer of the Community Anti-Racism Education (CARE) Initiative of St. Cloud State University. Other community members elected to serve as officers are Janet Grones, Vice Chair; Jim Schlenner, Treasurer and Dan Steil, Secretary.

The Bernick Family Foundation supports two key focus areas through their grant round; youth and education which includes activities to help prepare students for future success in education and the workplace, and health and fitness which includes activities that encourage active lifestyles and well-being. Grant application deadline is August 31, 2019.

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced today that $140,000 has been awarded to local programs through their two most recent grant rounds. The Central Minnesota Arts awarded $30,000 to five organizations. The Central Minnesota "Difference Maker" grant round, with the support of the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation Fund, awarded $110,000 to six organizations.

ST. CLOUD, MN – The fourth annual Women’s Fund Presents: Dancing With Our Stars LIVE event was held yesterday, Monday, June 17, 2019 at the College of St. Benedict. The event raised $196,230 for local organizations that benefit women and girls in our community. Over 600 people were in attendance to cheer on their favorite dancers and charities. This year’s event once again featured a dance competition between six local celebrities who had been paired with a professional partner for a chance to win up to a $15,000 grant for the non-profit program of their choice.

St. Cloud, Minn. –The Women’s Fund of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation has selected Bernie Perryman as the 2019 ATHENA Award recipient. Bernie was chosen for the award because of her leadership and dedication to strengthening our community. The mission of the ATHENA Award is to recognize and honor Central Minnesota women who have achieved excellence in their careers and who inspire others. Criteria for selection include: demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in her business or profession; provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the lives of others in Central Minnesota; and actively assists women in realizing their full leadership potential.
