Charity Challenge Match Increases to $150,000

ST. CLOUD, Minn. –The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation announced today that the Charity Challenge match has been increased to $150,000, previously set at $100,000.

Charity Challenge Returns to Help Local Food Shelves

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Charity Challenge has become a tradition for the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation, the Central Minnesota Community Foundation and the St. Cloud metro area. Since the first Challenge in 2001, which raised $10,185; to last year’s record setting $468,673 challenge, this event has surpassed a total of $3.1 million raised for local food shelves.

Arts Grant Recipients Through Central Minnesota Community Foundation

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) Arts Fund is pleased to announce they have awarded 6 grants totaling $35,000. The GREAT Theatre received $6,000, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota $6,000, WACOSA $5,000, Great Northern Theatre Company $5,000, St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra $7,500 and Whitney Senior Center-City of St.Cloud $5,500.

Foundations Provide Funding for Rural Poverty Programs and Projects

St. Cloud, Minnesota— The Central Minnesota Community Foundation and the Initiative Foundation, in partnership, have granted $19,000 to area nonprofits who are working to develop solutions and implement programs that alleviate poverty in rural areas of Central Minnesota.

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) is excited to announce the recipients of it's first Difference Maker Grant. The Lion Community Enrichment Programs, Inc. received a $21,600 grant, the Local Education & Activities Foundation--LEAF received a $10,000 grant, #unitecloud received a $20,000 grant and Terebinth Refuge received a $11,400 grant.

Over 100 Students Receive Scholarships from Central Minnesota Community Foundation

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation, in conjunction with CommunityGiving, has awarded $168,600 in academic scholarships for the coming school year to 101 students from the upper Midwest.

Noonan, Clark and Bernick Family to Receive Awards at CMCF Annual Dinner

The celebration will take place at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. Three awards will be presented at the event this year. Kathy Grochow Named Director of Community Programs

St. Cloud, Minn. – CommunityGiving and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) are pleased to announce Kathy Grochow as the new Director of Community Programs for the organization. Grochow was a Senior Development Officer at the College of St. Benedict and has over 18 years of experience in philanthropy. She received her undergraduate in Business Administration Management from the University of Minnesota-Mankato and her master's degree in Organizational Management from Concordia University in St. Paul.

Funding Available for Women and Girls Programming

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced two grant rounds are now accepting grant applications to benefit women and young girls in the community. The first grant opportunity is from the Women’s Fund of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. The Women’s Fund provides funding to projects and programs that focus on the following three areas: girls ages 10-18, women in transition and elder women.

Schlenner Elected to CMCF Board of Directors

St. Cloud, Minn.— The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced the election of Jim Schlenner to serve on the board of directors. Jim Schlenner is Senior Partner with the accounting and consulting firm Schlenner, Wenner & Co. Schlenner has over 35 years experience working with small and mid-sized businesses providing tax, accounting and consulting advice. He has served on various non-profit boards including St. Cloud Rotary, United Cerebral Palsy of Central Minnesota and the St. Cloud Hospital.
