Kay Pattison is one of many individuals, families and corporations who have established a donor-advised fund. This fund provides an opportunity for the donor to suggest grant distributions from their named funds. The donor has the flexibility to respond to changing needs in the community while developing a firm base of philanthropic support in perpetuity.
“I had some appreciated assets and wanted to relieve the tax burden on disposing of the property,” Kay said. “I also believe it was important to give back to the community.”
Her tax planner recommended the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. Being aware of the Community Foundation, she knew that this was the appropriate way to fulfill her charitable interests. Kay did not hesitate to establish a fund. She recommends distributions to her favorite charities annually.“I am delighted with my relationship with the Community Foundation,” Kay said. “They have been open to my suggestions and I am pleased with the difference I can make in my community.”
