In light of the recent events across the world, we want to help our donors in making gifts to support those affected and it can be difficult to navigate which organizations to trust and that are truly helping those in need. Please refer to the list below to learn more about organizations that are doing this important work to support and rebuild.

National Disaster Relief Resources
American Red Cross - The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation's blood; and distributes international humanitarian aid. They are often first on the scene in times of natural disasters.
Catholic Relief Services - Catholic Relief Services is the official overseas relief and development agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and a member of Caritas Internationalis.
Center for Disaster Philanthropy - The Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) is the only full-time resource dedicated to helping donors maximize their impact by making more intentional disaster-related giving decisions. They have established a number of active recovery funds to support those who are in need.
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) - Lutheran Disaster Response collaborates with other disaster response organizations and religious entities in the United States and around the world.
GlobalGiving - GlobalGiving is a nonprofit that supports other nonprofits by connecting them to donors and companies. Since 2002, we've helped trusted, community-led organizations from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe (and hundreds of places in between) access the tools, training, and support they need to make our world a better place.
Project Hope - Founded in 1958, Project HOPE is a renowned global health and humanitarian relief organization. Their work addresses the world’s greatest public health challenges, transforming lives and uplifting communities.
Salvation Army World Service Office - The Salvation Army has responded to numerous natural disasters, transportation accidents, civil unrest situations and terrorist attacks. By providing beverages, meals, and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and survivors, The Salvation Army strives to bring hope and healing to people who find themselves in the midst of extremely difficult situations.
Samaritan's Purse - Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.
Save the Children - Save the Children is an international non-profit founded by Eglantyne Jebb, over 100 years ago. They are active in over 100 countries and were the world’s first international charity for children.
World Central Kitchen - Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. WCK has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world.
ShelterBox - ShelterBox USA provides emergency shelter and essential supplies to families displaced by disasters and conflict. Through targeted aid and relief efforts, they help vulnerable communities begin to rebuild their lives. Their work spans remote and disaster-stricken areas worldwide, aiming to bring safety, stability, and hope to those affected.

Center for Disaster Philanthropy - Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund – All states) The fund supports initiatives that prioritize communities devastated by Atlantic hurricanes, especially those facing systemic barriers to equitable recovery.

Craft Emergency Relief Fund (cerf+) – (All states) - CERF+ was started by artists for artists in the craft community as a grassroots mutual aid effort in 1985 and has since emerged as the leading nonprofit organization that uniquely focuses on safeguarding artists’ livelihoods nationwide. CERF+ serves artists who work in craft disciplines by providing a safety net to support strong and sustainable careers. Their core services are education programs, advocacy, network building and emergency relief.

Community Foundation of Sarasota County - (Florida) - The Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund -- which was activated last year to assist with long-term recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian -- has been reactivated. It supports disaster recovery in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. If Helene’s effects impact other parts of Florida, their team will advise on how to make charitable gifts to reach those most affected.

Invest Appalachia – (Appalachia regions) – Invest Appalachia is a regional impact investing platform serving Central Appalachia, is working to contact and support partners affected by Hurricane Helene. Drawing on their experience from the 2022 Eastern Kentucky floods, they plan to deploy blended capital (investment and catalytic) to aid in the region’s long-term recovery. This funding will focus on supporting small businesses, housing, consumer lending, and other recovery efforts.

United Way of the Big Bend – (Florida) -The UWBB Disaster Relief Fund will serve Leon, Taylor, Madison, Jefferson, Wakulla, Franklin, Gadsden and Liberty counties to assist residents in the Big Bend footprint affected by the storm. Funds will be used to meet the short-term storm-related needs and support the long-term recovery efforts.
United Way of Florida – (Florida) - The UWOF Disaster Recovery Fund is composed of all Florida United Ways who work together to meet the needs of their individual communities, as well as the entire state. They are #United4Florida to help the communities devastated by the storm respond and recover. Each local United Way will be there to organize resources, connect those in need with those who can help and ensure residents have the support they need to recover. Contributions to the UWOF Disaster Fund will be directed to Florida communities most impacted by a disaster and can be directed to a specific county.

Responding Organizations
Airlink – (Florida)- Airlink is collaborating with airline and logistics partners to deliver essential airlift and logistical support to responding NGO partners, ensuring that aid reaches the right places promptly. They are facilitating flights for expertly trained personnel including emergency responders, health professionals, logisticians, and additional programmatic staff to arrive on the ground as quickly as possible. Given the busy hurricane season and the overlapping responses required by many nonprofits, it is crucial to cover their transport costs to sustain their vital programs and invaluable work within affected communities.
All Hands and Hearts – (Florida and North Carolina) – Planning a 12-month response. Starting with debris clean-up and then will respond to needs.
American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) – (Florida) - ALAN is a logistics industry-wide organization that exists to provide supply chain assistance to humanitarian organizations whenever disasters hit. Their members make essential donations of transportation, warehousing, material equipment or expertise. They also help disaster relief organizations and other non-profits make every logistics dollar count. Studies show that up to 80% of their crisis spending goes to logistics.
Americares – (Florida) - Americares is deploying a response team to Florida as Hurricane Helene barrels toward the state’s northwest coast, bringing life-threatening flooding, dangerous storm surges and intense winds. Their emergency response experts are expected to be on the ground in Florida this weekend to support health needs in the affected areas. They will immediately begin assessing damage to health facilities and coordinating with local partners to ensure that communities receive the care they need.
Convoy of Hope – (Florida) - Convoy of Hope is responding and our teams headed out this morning with relief supplies, support vehicles and disaster staff.They are prepositioned to respond once the storm safely passes they will assist survivors with food, water, and relief supplies.
Direct Relief – (All states) - Direct Relief is in communication with healthcare organizations in the state on any needs that arise, and Direct Relief’s hurricane preparedness packs, a vital aspect of the organization’s hurricane resiliency and response work, are already stationed at strategic locations in the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Feeding Florida – (Florida) - Feeding Florida will provide critical food, water, and resources to those affected by Hurricane Helene. With such devastation across several counties, they're able to procure resources in bulk and provide them to the local food banks across several cities and counties.
Florida Rising – (Florida) - Florida Rising is a people-powered organization made up of members advancing economic and racial justice across Florida. They will support BIPOC and farmworker communities, especially in North Florida, affected by the hurricane.
Footprint Project – (Florida and Georgia) - The Footprint Project focuses on providing cleaner energy for communities in crisis. They are currently responding in both Florida and Georgia ahead of Hurricane Helene, with some equipment being shipped and some assets already on the ground in the affected areas.
Good360 – (All states) -Good360 has pre-positioned funds and supplies. They created the largest shared warehouse network in the disaster space and have strategically stored goods in proximity to areas at high risk of being affected by hurricanes. This ensures faster response times and better support for communities in need, particularly those in historically marginalized communities.
Healthcare Ready – (All states) - Healthcare Ready is ENGAGED for this event. They are monitoring potential concerns for supply chain disruptions and impacts on healthcare services on their response page, listing resources and previous situation reports.
Homeward Bound - (North Carolina)
International Medical Corps – (Florida) - International Medical Corps, which maintains longstanding partnerships with the Florida Department of Health as well as federally qualified health center partners across the region, remains on standby, ready to deploy and support those affected by Hurricane Helene.
Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) – (Florida and Georgia) - ITDRC harnesses the collective resources of the technology community to provide no-cost Information, Communications, and Technology (ICT) solutions that connect survivors and responders in crisis. ITDRC provides communities with the technical resources necessary to continue operations and begin recovery after a disaster.
Lutheran Disaster Response – (under ELCA) - (All States)
Matthew 25: Ministries - (Florida) - When their Disaster Response Team deploys, they focus on moving large amounts of critically needed aid into the affected area. They utilize a fleet of specialty vehicles to distribute initial loads of aid and set up distribution channels through partner organizations for future shipments.
Midwest Food Bank – (Florida, Georgia) - Midwest Food Bank is partnering with the Salvation Army, the Georgia division of Midwest Food Bank, the state of Florida, and multiple relief agencies to provide water and drinks to affected areas.
Operation BBQ Relief - (Florida) - Armed with a caravan of cooks, mobile pits, kitchens and volunteers, Operation BBQ Relief delivers the healing power of BBQ in times of need, feeding first responders and communities affected by natural disasters along with year-round efforts to fight hunger through The Always Serving Project and Camp OBR programs.
The Partnership to Inclusive Disaster Strategies – (All states) - The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies (The Partnership) is the only U.S. disability-led organization with a focused mission of equity for people with disabilities and people with access and functional needs throughout all planning, programs, services and procedures before, during and after disasters and emergencies.
Project:CAMP – (Florida) – Project:CAMP pop up free, trauma-informed day camps to support children and their families in the wake of disasters. They also organize and prepare communities to provide childcare when their communities are impacted by disasters.
Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay – EIN: 59-3664580 – (Florida) - Their team is fully prepared to mobilize across affected communities once the storm passes. They will provide critical relief and response services.
Salvation Army – (All states) - The Salvation Army has Incident Management Teams and mobile feeding units with crews that will be established after the storm has passed. Local locations are coordinating with County Emergency Management and partner organizations/agencies for any local service requests.
SBP (formerly St. Bernard Project) – (All states) - SBP’s Disaster Corps will deploy to begin clearing debris, mucking and gutting and roof tarping as soon as it is safe to do so. They are actively sharing recovery navigation resources and connecting with local partners and volunteer groups to equip survivors to navigate the days and weeks ahead.
Send Relief – (All states) - Send Relief’s regional quick-response warehouse and tractor-trailers loaded with supplies are ready to deploy resources to areas of highest need. They are also in touch with our national partners like the Salvation Army, as well as FEMA and the Red Cross, to ensure a coordinated response.
Team Rubicon - (All states) - Team Rubicon’s mission is to provide relief to those affected by disasters or crises, no matter when or where they strike. They have already been working in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas and are committed to supporting long-term recovery.
ToolBank USA – (Florida) - Tool Bank Disaster Services provides the tools, literally, to get the job done. They deploy staff and various size trailers filled with tools to equip community-based organizations and their volunteers at no cost. They are available to send a wide-range of equipment to the non-profits on the ground doing recovery or clean-up.
United Policyholders – (All states) - United Policyholders (UP) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization whose mission is to be a trustworthy and useful information resource and an effective voice for consumers of all types of insurance in all 50 states. They provide tools and resources for solving insurance problems after a disaster and promote disaster preparedness and insurance literacy.
Vibrant Emotional Health – (All states) - If additional mental health support is needed for survivors/responders, Vibrant’s Crisis Emotional Care Team (CECT) is available to provide professional volunteers trained in psychological first aid and disaster behavioral health care. The CECT also offers training in support of responding staff/volunteers to hold space to prevent compassion fatigue.

Maui Strong Fund - The Hawai'i Community Foundation, has activated it's Maui Strong Fund with $1 million in commitments to support residents affected by the Maui wildfires.
Ukraine Resources
Alight - Formerly known as the American Refugee Committee, Alight is an open family of organizations that works closely with refugees, trafficked persons, and economic migrants, to co-design solutions that help them build full and fulfilling lives.
CARE - CARE works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. They seek a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and all people live with dignity and security.
Give 2 Asia - Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Give2Asia is an international nonprofit that serves as a strategic partner and ally working on the ground in more than 23 countries across the Asia Pacific.
Impact Ukraine - Impact Ukraine work with churches, pastors, and other organizations in Ukraine to support humanitarian needs. Board members have been in partnerships and served on various Minnesota-based Ukraine ministries and organizations such as Love Lift Ukraine, Converge North Central, Shepard’s Foundation, Camp Maximum, Refuge Church in Willmar, and The Journey North Community Church in Baxter.
International Rescue Committee - The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises—including the climate crisis—to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Founded at the call of Albert Einstein in 1933, the IRC is now at work in over 40 crisis-affected countries as well as communities throughout Europe and the Americas.
