| St. Cloud, Minn.— The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced the election of Debra Leigh to serve as the new chairperson of the board of directors. Leigh is a professor at St. Cloud State University. She is also co-founder and lead organizer of the Community Anti-Racism Education (CARE) Initiative of St. Cloud State University. Other community members elected to serve as officers are Janet Grones, Vice Chair; Jim Schlenner, Treasurer and Dan Steil, Secretary. Newly elected to the board for a three-year term was Aneesa Cheek, President of St. Cloud Technical and Community College. Current board members Jason Bernick of Bernick’s, Paul Thompson of Bremer Bank and Steve Windfeldt of Preferred Credit, Inc. were elected to a second three-year term and John Herges of Falcon National Bank and Tohow Siyad of National Home Health Care Transportation were elected to a third three-year term. Other community members serving on the CMCF Board of Directors include Maryanne Mahowald, Steve Laraway of Laraway Financial Advisors, Stefanie Brown of Rinke Noonan, and Joanne Kudrna of Granite Equity Partners. The board of directors governs the Central Minnesota Community Foundation and guides the organization in the mission to engage people, connect resources and build community. The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community. Since 1985, CMCF has grown to over $105.9 million in assets and awarded over $100.5 million in grants to non-profits.
