Local Programming Awarded Over $12,000 from Alexandria Area Community Foundation

Three Programs Receive Funding

Alexandria, Minn. – The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) announced today that $12,189 has been awarded to local programs through the Ruth McDonald Fund grant round. The Ruth McDonald Fund grant round supports health and wellness programming in the Alexandria area, especially for the health needs of people in poverty.  Recipients of the Ruth McDonald grants were as follows:

  • $5,000 to support the Central Minnesota Elder Network’s iPad Technology program to expand and enhance current outreach efforts to combat loneliness and isolation for local seniors.
  • $4,000 to support the Meals with Care Fund at the Alexandria Education Foundation that fills the need for those who may not qualify for free or reduced lunch but are currently experiencing financial hardship and need assistance to access meals at school.
  • $3,189 to support Kicking Butts, a smoking cessation program offered through Life Connections and Love INC. of Douglas County.
