Over $39,000 Awarded in Scholarships
Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF), in conjunction with CommunityGiving, is pleased to announce that 21 students from Willmar and the surrounding areas received $39,925 in academic scholarships for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.
CommunityGiving administers 77 separate scholarship funds, several of which serve Willmar and the surrounding area schools. These scholarships were established by individuals, families and businesses to support area students in their educational pursuits.
“As we prepare to send our students back to school and off to college, we wish the young people of our communities the best and thank our donors who, by establishing scholarship funds, are saying to these students ‘We support you. We want you to succeed.'” stated Sara Carlson, Executive Director of WACF.
Scholarship recipients for the 2018-2019 school year are (sorted by community):
- Jaren Kaddatz of Atwater, MN received $1,000.00 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarship Fund and $1,000.00 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
- Tyler Kaisner of Atwater, MN received $1,000.00 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarships Fund.
- Nicole Lilleberg of Atwater, MN received $1,000.00 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarships Fund.
- Skyller Schmidt of Atwater, MN received $1,250.00 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
- Samuel Hilbrands of Clara City, MN received $1,000.00 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Olivia Ruiter of Clara City, MN received $1,000.00 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Levi Sparks of Clara City, MN received $2,000.00 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Ellie Thein of Clara City, MN received $1,000.00 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Andi Hinther of Cosmos, MN received $1,250.00 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
- Samantha Gilbert of Grove City, MN received $1,000.00 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
- Anna Grimsgard of Grove City, MN received $1,250.00 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.

- Paris Roberg of Spicer, MN received $500.00 from the New London-Spicer Alumni Scholarship Fund.
- Pah Hah of Willmar, MN received $10,000.00 from the Willmar Civic Scholarship Association Dorothy Brown Scholars Fund.
- Cayle Hovland of Willmar, MN received $10,000.00 from the Willmar Civic Scholarship Association Dorothy Brown Scholars Fund.
- Getachew Hundera of Willmar, MN received $1,000.00 from the Dr. Austin and Muriel McCarthy Family Scholarship Fund.
- Sara Miller of Willmar, MN received $500.00 from the Dorothy Timm Meili Scholarship Fund.
