$46,000 Awarded in Scholarships
Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) is pleased to announce that 17 students from Kandiyohi County received $46,000 in academic scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year.
The WACF administers 9 separate scholarship funds established by individuals, families and businesses to support area students in their educational pursuits.
“Our kids are our future. By supporting our student’s education, we not only make an investment in our children but an investment in the future of our communities. Thank you to our donors who continue to make this possible,” stated Sara Carlson, Executive Director of WACF.
Scholarship recipients for the 2021-2022 school year are (sorted by school district):
- Taylor Fester of ACGC High School received $1,000 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
- Wilson Gratz of ACGC High School received $1,000 from the Harold E. Bjur Scholarship Fund and $1,000 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
- Brock Hedtke of ACGC High School received $1,000 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
- Kari Schultz of ACGC High School received $1,000 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund and $1,000 from the Adams Family Scholarship Fund.
- Cassandra Justison of Litchfield High School received $500 from the Virginia Grussendorf Memorial Scholarship Fund.
- William Asche of MACCRAY High School received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Raelee Bristle of MACCRAY High School received $2,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Trenten Cavaness of MACCRAY High School received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- JoAnna Johnson of MACCRAY High School received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Gabriel Sparks of MACCRAY High School received $1,000 from the Josh Palke Scholarship Fund.
- Lukas Arnold of New London-Spicer High School received $500 from the New London-Spicer Alumni Scholarship Fund.
- Haley Van Nurden of New London-Spicer High School received $1,000 from the Marv Otto Scholarship Fund.
- Rachel Lanning of Willmar High School received $1,000 from the Dorothy Timm Meili Scholarship Fund.
- Alexa Kath of Willmar High School received $10,000 from the WCSA Dorothy Brown Scholarship Fund.
- Serena Mobley of Willmar High School received $10,000 from the WCSA Dorothy Brown Scholarship Fund.
- Christina Zhang of Willmar High School received $10,000 from the WCSA Dorothy Brown Scholarship Fund.
- Audrey Swart of Willmar High School received $1,000 from the Dr. Austin and Muriel McCarthy Family Scholarship Fund.
The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local Willmar area.
