Women on Stage Raises Almost $100,000
Proceeds Support Local Programs
St. Cloud, Minn. - The Women on Stage event raised $97,000 for local programs that support women and girls. Proceeds will support Imagination Library, a program of the United Way of Central Minnesota that was started by Dolly Parton, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Faith in Action, St. Cloud Legal Service and Central Minnesota Legal Services.
This year’s Women on Stage event, held in July, blended Broadway with giving back as it featured members of the touring cast of Dolly Parton’s 9-5 musical. It drew about 800 to the College of Saint Benedict for a Broadway Revue.
Attendees got in a New York state of mind during social and dinner before slipping into the Benedicta Arts Center to listen to Mill Worker, Send in the Clowns, Jolene, Coat of Many Colors and many other Broadway favorites.
The Women’s Fund has raised more than $1 million and awarded nearly $500,000 in grants to local programs since it started in 2002.
