 Community Foundation Awards 10 Local Grants


$7,500 Grant Provides Free Medical Equipment


Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) announced today it awarded $48,500 in grants to ten local nonprofit organizations during its fall grant rounds to support key community programs.

Goodwill Easter Seals received a $7,500 grant for its local Medical Equipment Program, a unique service that provides access to assistive medical equipment free of charge to low-income individuals for up to three months while they are recovering from surgery, illness and accidents.

Other local general grant recipients include
• Kandiyohi County Public Health, for the “Friends Count” program, $7,500
• African Development Center, St. Paul, for capacity building at its new Willmar office, $5,000
• Safe Avenues, for Harmony Visitation Center serving Willmar and surrounding communities, $5,000
• Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA, for the “Lend A Hand Mentor” program, $5,000
• Lutheran Social Service, for services to Willmar area seniors through “Caregiver Support and Respite,” $5,000
• Green Lake Lutheran Ministries, Spicer, for computer software and hardware, $3,000
• MinnWest Technology Foundation, Willmar, to support the i3@MTC Youth Science Retreat, $3,000
• Habitat for Humanity of West Central MN, to update technology infrastructure, $2,500

The recipients of the latest Willmar Area Community Foundation Arts Grants are:
• Willmar Area Arts Council, for “Studio Hop and Celebrate Art! Celebrate Coffee!,” $2,500
• Willmar Area Arts Council, for general operating support, $2,500
