Posted January 20, 2010The Help for Haiti Challenge Fund now totals $65,000--$50,000 from the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation, $10,000 from the Central Minnesota Community Foundation, and $5,000 from the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation. The Fund will match dollar for dollar gifts from individuals and businesses in response to the devastating earthquake last week in Haiti.
In addition, two more organizations with local connections have now been designated to receive money from the Fund.

Foundations Join Forces to Support Earthquake Relief Efforts

Charity Challenge Raises $140,000 for Food Shelves
Posted January 8, 2010St. Cloud, MN -- The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation are pleased to announce that the 9th annual Community Charity Challenge raised a grand total of $141,979 for the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and St. Joseph food shelves. The total includes the $60,000 match and is a record high for the challenge—far exceeding last year’s total of $98,654.

Over $67,000 has been received from the community to date, bringing the total raised for local food shelves to more than $127,000—a record high for the annual challenge.
