The Bernick Family Scholarship


Mission

The Bernick Family Scholarship Fund was created to recognize the values of the Bernick family and their corporation, The Bernick Companies. The purpose of the fund is to recognize, assist and encourage high school seniors who are well-rounded individuals in their pursuit of advanced education.


Eligibility

  • This scholarship program is intended to assist high school seniors in their pursuit of advanced education, in a 2-year technical or community college or a 4-year college. The renewal of the scholarship is based upon proof of full-time enrollment and maintenance of satisfactory grades.
  • Eligibility will include high school seniors in the counties of Wisconsin and Minnesota that are serviced by Bernick's Pepsi Cola.
  • Awarded scholarships make available up to $2,000 with $500 being given each year for up to four years of college.

Applicant Responsibility

Applicants are responsible for submitting a complete application by March 1st.  A complete application consists of:

  • A completed appliation form
  • A two page, double-spaced essay by the applicant addressing the following: "Based upon your last four years, tell us what you have learned from participating in school, community, and work activities. How do you plan to apply what you learned to your future opportunities?" This essay/statement is very important in the selection process.
  • A listing of applicant's participation in community service, school extra-curricular activities and work experience for the last four years. Download Activities List.
  • Two letters of reference addressing the applicant's strengths and weaknesses.
  • A current transcript showing the applicant has a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and an ACT score if available. 

Application Deadlines


Scholarships must be submitted online by midnight on March 1st.  No hard copies will be accepted.

For a student to apply for an online application they will be required to "create a new account" if they are a first time user of our system.  Once they have established an account, the system will remember their log in information and will automatically be tied to any other online scholarship applications submitted through our online system.

Selection Process


Completed application forms will be reviewed and evaluated by the Scholarship Award Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee will recommend to the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation which application to fund. The Board will then approve or disapprove the Committee's recommendations.

Scholarship Awards


The scholarship award will be made in accordance with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation scholarship agreement.  The renewal of the scholarship is based upon proof of full-time enrollment and maintenance of satisfactory grades.
