About Grants

The Central Minnesota Community Foundation, and its affiliates the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation and the Willmar Area Community Foundation, serve the nonprofit sector of their local communities through grants from our funds and through encouraging collaborative projects that strengthen the nonprofit sector.

Grantmaking often is the connecting point between those who give and those who need.  It is the primary way that donors to the Foundation make the community stronger.  The Foundation has more than 500 charitable funds supporting philanthropic causes as varied as the many donors who established them.

Throughout the past year, many lives were enriched through over 1,213 grants dispersed to about 400 local, state and national charities, serving a range of needs and making a difference for many.

Most of these grants came from funds established to support specific causes or from donor advised funds, where the donor recommends grants from the fund to support charities that interest them.
